Keeping Your Family Safe with AVS Systems
Keeping Your Family Safe with AVS Systems
by Ray Pierce Pope

Simply watching the news can make you wonder about security issues.

Security is the level of protection against crime,  physical loss, and criminals. People or events that intrude upon the level of protection are responsible for a "breach of security."

Security has to be studied and contrasted with other related ideas: Personal safety, continuity, reliability. The main difference between security and reliability is that security must take into account the actions of individuals attempting to cause personal harm or damage.

It doesn't matter whether you are living in a house, a condo or an apartment, a security break in can forever shatter your feeling of security.

According to the FBI crime bank, once every 15 seconds, a house, apartment or condominium is burglarized.

The good news is, burglary is easily one of the most preventable types crimes. By following a few simple steps, you can reduce your risks.

One thing to understand is that every home and personal situation is different, and of course there are no guarantees.

The first thing is to try and determine exactly what kind of threat you are up against. For example, defending against bodily threats, such as assault, requires different some measures than defending against a potential burglary does.

Remember that most home burglars don't always put int great amounts of thought to planning their job and comparing the benefits versus the dangers, but buy understanding how they usually choose a target, you can go a long way in potentially reducing your chances of becoming a victim.

Most burglars tend to look for an unoccupied home, combined with low visibility, and of course Something that is actually worth stealing that they can easily turn in to cash

An interesting fact is that most residential burglaries happen during the day. This is  because homes tend to be vacant more often during the day when the owners are working and the thieves can get in and out fast.

You can prevent break ins by fooling potential burglars. Make your home look occupied all the time by using  automatic timers on lights when away from home.

If possible, always park your car in a garage with the door shut. A burglar will sometimes try to see if he can find a pattern that a closed garage door means no one is home. Having closed curtains or blinds during the day can also help hide your valuable belongings.

You can also place radios on cheap automatic timers and keep the volume loud so they can easily be heard outside. Turn down the sound of your telephones ringer and your answering machine - that way that they won't be heard outside. Also never leave notes on your front door because that can tip off potential thieves.

When you are going to be away for more than a single day follow this advice:

Get one of your neighbors to pick up your mail, newspaper and flyer's, by offering to reciprocate for them. Try to avoid having your mail stopped. That gives valuable information that you are not home to other people.

If your are going to be away for an long period, plan in advance to have your grass mowed or snow shoveled.

If you can, use call forwarding to your cell phone when you are away from home. Burglars will sometimes call to see if someone is home by simply repeatedly calling your number several times throughout the day.

If you know in advance that you are away to be away from home on the day garbage is picked up, ask one of your neighbors some of their garbage cans in front of your house. Thieves will sometimes check for empty garbage cans as a sign to plan a burglary. Constantly opening and closing the curtains or drapes with and automated system is another great way to make it appear that someone is home.

Want even more peace of mind? Consider a security system, Jeff Martin of AVS Systems in Pensacola Florida had this to say:

AVS Systems is looking out for you with their closed circuit television surveillance systems. Monitoring the activities of your business or home is now more affordable with the latest closed circuit camera products.

Protecting homes and business with video surveillance is AVS Services specialty. The company maintains the competitive edge on quality with the latest security technologies. Thanks to increasing cases of crime, the demand for Video surveillance is on the rise.

The CCTV industry has seen enormous fast paced developments in the past few years. Digitalization, IT networks, and web-enabled products are now revolutionizing control and remote management.

The use of CCTV systems is no longer just for business and commercial applications. CCTV installs in homes are becoming much more prevalent.

Network video surveillance technology has come into being as a result of three trends (a) the convergence of security and computer technology, (b) the growth of digital video recorders and digital surveillance cameras, and (c) video distribution over the internet.

CCTVs can be configured with either television receivers, video monitors, or computer monitors.

Monitor the activities and security of your business from the comfort of your computer at home. Ever wonder how the babysitter is with your children while you're at work? The video images can be sent over the Internet and you can view them from your computer monitor at work.
